About The Founders
We are Dan and Gaz, two British Army veterans with a love of cigars and cigar culture. Together, we aim to bring the greatest premium and luxury cigars to veteran and serving members of H.M armed forces, as well as the wider community of cigar collectors and enthusiasts. Let us tell you a little of who we are.
Gareth Pearce
(Co-Founder & CEO)
Gareth Pearce is a veteran of the British Army, serving with 1st The Queen’s Dragoon Guards (The Welsh Cavalry) from September 2002, until December 2012.
It was during his first tour of Iraq, where Gareth began his journey into the world of cigars, in 2004. Though it would be in 2018, that he would really begin learning more about the cigar industry.
In March of 2025, Gareth would receive a comment via Instagram, suggesting that there may be a market for a brand/line of cigars, that revolves around Britain’s H.M Armed Forces. The idea stuck, and The Sabre & Saddle Cigar Co. Ltd began to take form, with Gareth beginning the requisite research to found a premium/luxury cigar brand and approached his friend, Daniel, for a grounded opinion.
Gareth is married, with two teenage daughters, and lives primarily in Bistrița, Romania. He enjoys shooting, cigars, and viewing international rugby union as an avid supporter of Wales.
Daniel Aske
(Co-Founder & CFO)
Daniel Aske is a British army veteran of almost 8 years having signed up shortly after his 18th birthday serving from 2014 to 2021 in The Queen’s Royal Hussars (QRH).
Daniel was born and raised in Birmingham England until 18, after this he has lived and worked in over 7 different countries before moving to Cornwall to enjoy his love of the ocean and his passion for surfing.
After his life in the forces Daniel worked as a gunsmith where he met and became close friends with Gareth where the two bonded over common interests and a love for cigars it was at this point that Gareth extended the offer to become business partners and embark on a new adventure!
In his free time Daniel enjoys outdoor water sports, mainly surfing, recreational fitness and creative writing.
