This is one that we've been asked to explore a little, for the beginners in the community and those looking to dabble in the enjoyment of cigars.
Understanding the intricate anatomy of a cigar can greatly enhance your appreciation for this craft. Let’s explore its parts, starting from the exterior and moving inward.
The Exterior
1. The Cap:
Located at the head of the cigar, the cap is a small, carefully placed piece of tobacco leaf that seals the end. It allows for a clean cut and smooth draw when you begin smoking. Often handcrafted, the cap is a sign of quality craftsmanship.

2. The Shoulder:
Just below the cap, the shoulder is where the wrapper begins to curve around the cigar’s body. It helps maintain the shape and structural integrity of the cigar.
3. The Band:
Sitting around the cigar’s body, the band is often decorative and branded. It can also serve as an indicator of the cigar’s maker and edition. Some cigars come with a secondary band, for some added marketing or an extra eye-catching element.
To avoid any breaches in copyright or trademark violations, I've removed the band from this cigar.
4. The Body:
The main length of the cigar, the body is composed of the wrapper, binder, and filler. Its appearance, shade, and overall construction influence the flavor, burn, and smoking experience.
5. The Foot:
The open end of the cigar, where you light it. The foot’s composition can affect how evenly the cigar burns and how the flavors develop as you smoke.
The Internals
6. The Wrapper:

The outermost leaf on the cigar’s body, the wrapper is visually and flavor-wise the most prominent part. It’s cultivated with care for its appearance, smoothness, and flavor contribution.
7. The Binder:

Beneath the wrapper lies the binder leaf, which holds the filler tobaccos together. It plays a crucial role in the cigar’s combustion and airflow, providing a foundation for the flavors to develop.
8. The Fillers:

At the core, the fillers are a blend of tobacco leaves that determine the cigar’s strength, complexity, and flavor profile. Fillers can be long or short leaves, with long fillers often associated with higher-quality cigars.
In Summary

From the decorative band and elegant cap to the complex internal layers, each component of a cigar is crafted for quality and flavor. Appreciating these parts can make every puff a more rewarding experience, transforming a simple smoke into an artful ritual.
